2024 Acura MDX vs. 2024 Infiniti QX60: A Comprehensive Comparison

Choosing the right midsize luxury SUV can be tough, especially when the 2024 Acura MDX and 2024 Infiniti QX60 offer so much in features, performance, and style. Let's compare these two to help you decide. We’ll look at five main areas: Interior & Technology, Space, Design, Safety, and Powertrains.

Interior & Technology

2024 Acura MDX

The Acura MDX has a nice interior with soft-touch materials and the latest tech. The base model has a 12.3-inch touchscreen with Google, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. It also offers wireless charging, Wi-Fi, and Amazon Alexa. For music lovers, the A-Spec and Advance Package have a 19-speaker Bang & Olufsen system, and the Type S Advance has a 31-speaker system.

Unique Features:

  • CabinTalk (A-Spec trim): Lets front passengers talk to rear passengers through the sound system.
  • AcuraLink (3 years free): Provides maintenance scheduling, collision alerts, stolen vehicle tracking, and remote lock/unlock.

2024 Infiniti QX60

The Infiniti QX60 has a roomy cabin with leather seats and a 12.3-inch touchscreen. It comes with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a nine-speaker sound system. Higher trims have more luxury materials and a premium Bose 17-speaker sound system.

Unique Features:

  • One-Touch Second-Row Seats: These seats tilt and slide forward with a button, making it easy to reach the third row.
  • ProPilot Assist with Navi-Link: Helps with driving by controlling acceleration, braking, and steering on the highway.

Space

The 2024 Acura MDX offers ample space, seating seven people, with the third row being more suitable for children or short trips. The second row can be converted into captain's chairs by removing the middle seat, although this process can be a bit tricky. Similarly, the 2024 Infiniti QX60 also accommodates seven passengers, featuring easy-to-reach third-row seats. Its top Autograph model includes second-row captain's chairs, making it convenient for families utilizing all three rows.

Design

The 2024 Acura MDX boasts a bold look with its large Diamond Pentagon grille, new headlights, and LED running lights. Its sporty trims, such as A-Spec and Type S, feature black trim, larger wheels, and sporty exhausts. In contrast, the 2024 Infiniti QX60 presents an elegant design with smooth lines and a prominent grille, standard LED headlights, and a sunroof. Although it is less sporty than the MDX, it offers a classy appearance.

Safety

2024 Acura MDX

The MDX is renowned for its safety, having won top safety awards. It boasts numerous driver assistance features, including brakes that help prevent crashes, lane departure warnings, adaptive cruise control, traffic sign recognition, and blind spot monitoring.

2024 Infiniti QX60

The QX60 is equipped with commendable safety features, including collision alerts and emergency braking systems. Advanced trims offer additional amenities such as adaptive cruise control, forward emergency braking, predictive forward collision warning, rear cross-traffic alert, high beam assist, and lane-keeping assist.

Powertrains

2024 Acura MDX

Astounding with 290 horsepower and a 10-speed automatic V6 engine, the Acura MDX is everything but plain and slow. The basic model has front-wheel drive, but you can upgrade to an all-wheel drive. The Type S model has a stronger 355-horsepower engine.

2024 Infiniti QX60

The QX60 has a 295-horsepower V6 engine and a 9-speed transmission, with all-wheel drive standard in all models. It has a bit more horsepower than the MDX, but no performance model like the Type S.

The 2025 INFINITI QX80 Reimagines Luxury

The year’s most highly anticipated INFINITI vehicle is nearly upon us. After making its debut on March 20 at the New York International Auto Show, buzz is at a fever-pitch for this summer’s 2025 INFINITI QX80. It’s easy to see why. This isn’t just a luxurious three-row SUV; it’s an SUV that dares to reimagine what luxury is.

With understated yet detailed styling, ultramodern technology, and its smoothest driving experience to date, the INFINITI QX80 is here to set a new standard for automotive luxury. INFINITI of West Chester has more on what to expect from the luxury SUV when it arrives later this summer.

Bringing Art to Life

The QX80 has been overhauled and upgraded for its 2025 model year. The changes start under the hood, where the 5.6-liter V8 has been upgraded to a 3.5-liter V6, powering the QX80 with 450 hp and 515 lb.-ft. of torque. The SUV shifts through a nine-speed automatic gearbox, and Nissan has improved efficiency by adding active grille shutters to reduce drag.

But it’s what’s on the surface that will immediately command your attention. The 2025 QX80 is the first INFINITI model to be produced under the Artistry in Motion initiative – INFINITI's evolved design language. Indeed, the QX80 looks ripped from an oil painting. Its double-arch grille, inspired by the organic shapes of a bamboo forest, is the newest iteration of INFINITI’s signature grille design. Meanwhile, the QX80’s evenly proportioned body is bold and confident, projecting a sleek sense of motion despite the vehicle’s size.

Luxury with an Eastern Flair

If bold, evocative brushstrokes are the lynchpins of the QX80’s exterior design philosophy, the interior hinges on seamless technology integration. Heavily inspired by both Japanese and Kyoto artisan culture, the soft materials beautifully mesh with the SUV’s sinuous technological landscape to form a cohesive, ultramodern cabin.

A pair of 14.3-inch displays highlight the interior experience, and are instrumental in providing the Front Wide View feature. A technology making its global debut, Front Wide View uses camera information to provide a wide, 170-degree view to the sides of the vehicle across both display screens. This gives the driver a bird’s eye view of parked cars and tight corners while turning.

Indeed, if an SUV is only as accomplished as its list of features, the 2025 QX80 could retire today with its spot in the Automotive Hall of Fame locked up. INFINITI-first features include:

  • Dual 14.3-inch monolith style displays
  • Remote Control Rear Seat
  • In-Car Camera
  • Flush Door Handles
  • Invisible Hood View
  • INFINITI Light Path
  • INFINITI InTouch® with Google built-in
  • ProPILOT Assist 2.1
  • 64 Color Personalized Ambient Lighting
  • Electronic Air Suspension

Additionally, each 2025 INFINTI QX80 comes standard with an extensive list of driver safety features designed to avoid collisions, including:

  • Predictive Forward Collision Warning
  • Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection
  • Blind Spot Warning
  • Rear Cross Traffic Alert
  • Blind Spot Intervention®
  • Lane Departure Prevention

Taking Up the INFINITI Gauntlet

The 2025 INFINITI QX80 is imminent, and it’s primed to set new standards for luxury SUVs. If any doubts remain, check out how the QX80 stacks up to its closest competitors. You can also explore other INFINITI SUV offerings, including the sophisticated 2024 INFINITI QX60 and the muscular 2024 INFINITI QX50.

Each time it seems the world has taken its next evolutionary step, INFINITI is there to rise to the challenge. See what the current benchmark for automotive luxury looks like for yourself; we'll have the QX80 on display in our showroom this weekend, May 17 & 18.  Discover the future of luxury driving at Chester County's premier INFINITI headquarters, INFINITI of West Chester.
